Meeting today: Smart meters may be coming to Port Townsend: city plans to cut forest to pay for it!

smart metersA meeting we should all attend today:  Wednesday, August 14th –  The cutting of a forest to pay for Smart Meters that are opposed by many citizens.

The city of Port Townsend wants to install Smart Meters.  There is much research to show that smart meters can cause health issues. The meters emit an electrical field that can be read from a remote location.  The installation of the smart meters by Honeywell would cost millions and the city proposes to cut a nearby forest to pay for it. This from Virginia Wald – PT community member:

According to City Hall, the meeting today,  Wednesday, 4-6 pm is NOT about smart meters.  It is, however, about selling  the timber on approximately 100 acres of woods that the city “owns”.  This  is supposedly to help fund our utilities, although the water rates have  increased by $240 a year in 2014.  80-acres of these trees provide a buffer  to the pollution from the pulp mill.  If you care about these trees, please  who up at today’s meeting;
